Disneyland Layouts with Studio J

So my neighbor and I decided we needed a trip together to Disneyland with our kids. It was so awesome, we flew down to California on the Tinkerbell plane on Alaska Airlines. We had a great time despite the rain. In fact at the end of one rainy day, it made more sense to just keep getting wet and we rode Splash Mountain over and over again then went back to our hotel completely soaked.

Disneyland is one of my favorite places to go. I thought it would be really fun to use the Close to my Heart Giggles & Grins paper, but it had been discontinued. Then I remembered that it is still available in digital format on Studio J.

It was really neat to create all these layouts on Studio J. They don't have Mickey and Minnie Stickease, but they have some elements that are similar so I just placed them together on the layout to look like Mickey and Minnie shapes.

We had a really fun trip, but then again, Disneyland and California Adventures is always fun in my book!

A Photo Slide Scrapbook Layout

Easter was interesting last year as my son was still away at college so only my daughter was here.  She didn't want to do the usual Easter Egg hunt because the challenge of getting more eggs than her brother wasn't there.  So we did a few things different.
I happened to catch some pictures of my husband chasing my daughter around trying to get her candy.  In the end he got some and I got a really funny picture of him eating the candy.  I decided this would be a great picture to hide on the layout to be revealed only with a photo slide.
Here you can see how the layout looks with the photo slide down, then I have the photo slide moving half-way up and then the photo slide up completely to show the funny picture hiding below.  This is the layout we made at my March Scrapbook Workshop.  We used the Close to my Heart Sophia paper and the layout is from the Magic book.  It was a really fun layout to make!

Stephanie's Baby Shower

My friend LoriAnn and I threw a baby shower for another friend, Stephanie, at my house.  Stephanie is having a boy and his name will be Baron, so we used a "blue" theme and also put the letter "B" on everything.

We used the Cricut to cut the letters and the Cuttlebug to add the dotted embossed background.  We also found some really cute "It's a Boy!" ribbon at Wal-Mart.

Another friend showed me how to make these cute little triangle boxes.  I used the Close to my Heart colors Moonstruck and Crystal Blue and also used the 2" Scallop punch and 1 1/4" Circle punch and cut out some more "b's" from my Cricut.  We put yummy Dove chocolate in the boxes and used the same ribbon to tie closed.
My daughter decorated the room for us, LoriAnn brought some yummy muffins and my husband bought and cut up fresh fruit while I made the "blue" punch.  We had a great turn out!  We got to know each other with a quiz, played a Left/Right game and made guesses on when Baron will arrive.
Stephanie got some great things for Baron.  This last picture on the right is of her and all her gifts.  I think we all had a great time!

Room under the Stairs

This is the space under our stairs.  One day I had a crazy idea and decided to create a "room" instead of just a storage space.  The more I thought about it, the more excited I got.  We pulled out the shelves, patched and painted the walls.  I got the table at Ikea for $19 and I put up new shelves to create a storage room, plus a place to wrap gifts.

This bottom picture is a close up of the shelves where I have baskets with gift bags, tissue, bows and ribbons as well as storing some items.  Maybe it is a crazy idea but I love how the room under the stairs turned out!

Milk Carton Gift Box

I had so much fun making these little Milk Carton gift boxes.  I found a free SVG online to use with my Sure Cuts A Lot program that works with my Cricut.  I used the new Close to my Heart 2" Scallop Punch and the 1 1/4" Circle punch to create the sentiment and then got some small clothes pins from Ben Franklin Craft Store in Bonney Lake and added the CTMH Miracle paper to it for the closure at the top.  I also have the Miracle paper around the middle of the box and some organdy white ribbon.  I filled the box with chocolates.  I think they turned out really cute!

At the Beach

Megan's puppy, Wednesday, had only been with us a few months when we decided to take her to the beach with us.  This was before we learned that every single time we take her somewhere in the car with us she freaks out, drools like crazy and then throws up.  So we headed out and then ended up having to clean up her mess in the back of the truck once we got to the beach.  Then, of course, she hated the water (another thing we have found out about her, she hates water, even the rain, except to drink it).  We took her out to it anyway.

So the dog didn't have much fun, but we sure did!  I loved the pictures and put them on my computer to scrapbook.  I even backed them up.  What I didn't realize was that in the backing up process it did not back up and it deleted it from my computer (I had a new program and didn't yet know some tricks I had to do to prevent such a thing).  When I decided it was time to scrapbook the pictures, I realized they were gone.  All I had was a draft print of a contact sheet.  I was so upset (this happened to about 8 different groups of pictures) and just left it for years.

I finally just scanned in what I had and scrapbooked them anyway.  So some of the pictures are kind of fuzzy, but at least I have something from this fun day!

Easter Layout with 4x6 Flip Flaps

I love using the Close to my Heart Flip Flaps.  In this layout I used the 4 x 6 Flip Flaps.

The picture on the right shows the Flip Flaps down.  The picture on the bottom shows the Flip Flaps up, they are really fun to use!

Loves me, Loves me not Picture

I am so excited about this picture I just made to hang up in my living room.  I got the idea from a craft book that Megan had and have had the idea in my head for months.  I took the idea and just put my own twist on it.
I started with white cardstock and printed "Loves me, Loves me not" all over it.

Then I cut flowers out of the printed cardstock with my Cricut.  I glued only the middle of the flowers to the back of the picture so I could curl up the petals and used Glue Dots to attached various black buttons to the center of each flower.
Then I took one of the flowers and cut off some of the petals as if pulled off while saying "loves me, loves me not" and glued them to the mat.  I cut the word "love" out of black cardstock with my Cricut and glued it to the mat.
Here is how it looks hanging on my living room wall.  I love how it turned out!

March Card Workshop

These are the cards that we made in my March card workshop.  First we made this Big Thanks card using the new banner alpha bet set.  Banners are definitely in right now!  We used the Mayberry paper and some hemp to hold the letters onto the card.
Next was this beautiful card using the Bliss paper and our new 2" scallop punch.  We punched out 4 of the scallop punches, then misted 3 of them with water and crumpled them up then used a brad to connect the scallop pieces together then worked them until they were the desired shape and left to dry.
This last last card was made with the Sophia paper and our new pink pom-pom ribbon.  We embossed the birthday cake in black and then colored in.  It turned out really cute!
