Rediscover CTMH Seattle

A few nights ago I was able to attend a Close To My Heart event here in Seattle.  One of the first people that I saw Lisa, a friend I made at my very first Close To My Heart convention in 1997.  I got to sit by her and get caught up through the event which was really fun.
Three of my team were able to come to the event with me, Elspeth, Dena and Michelle.  Our presenter for the evening was Kristine Widtfeldt who is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Close To My Heart.  She is a very entertaining and motivational speaker and was very willing to pose with me and my team for a picture.
We also got to make some cute projects which I will share later.  We just had a great night and I got home feeling so inspired!

Homecoming Layout Using Artbooking Cricut Cartridge

I'm trying to finish up my 2008 pictures and I'm so close!  I had just a few pictures of my son on Homecoming night.  He ended up being the only guy going in a group of girls so he bought single red roses for each of the girls which they really liked.  In making this layout I wanted it to have a more formal look so I picked Ruby to draw upon my son's tie the added in Black and White Daisy for the other colors.  I used some silver washi tape and red shimmer trim to add in some bling.  I just love the overlays that are available on the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge and really wanted to use one on this layout.  I chose the lattice overlays in Black as well as stamping a little bit in Ruby behind the lattice for more effect.  I also cut out the photo mats in Ruby using Artbooking.  I just love how it turned out!

I Love You Card

We made this card at my March Card Making Workshop.  It is made using the new Arianna paper, M1026 Dotted Love stamp, C1561 One-Way Borders stamp set, Black ink, Sky and Ruby markers and Silver Shimmer Trim.  I love coloring with the alcohol markers, it is awesome to create a more dimensional look.

Knitted Cotton Sweater

This is a project I actually made years ago, but still wanted to share it.  It is a knitted cotton cardigan.  It was a really fun project to work on seeing it all come together with pockets and button holes, it was the biggest knitting project I had ever made.

My First Project Life Style Birthday Layout

Close To My Heart has created an awesome pocket scrapbooking program called Picture My Life.  I haven't made very many pocket layouts, only once before, even though I have admired the system for a long time.  If you print all your photos in a 4x6 format this is quick and easy scrapbooking for you!  There are several designs of the pocket sheet protectors to use.  All the pockets are either 4x6 or 2x3 so for the smaller pockets you can just trim a photo to half its size for it.

Using any of the Picture My Life kits are so easy to by just slipping any of the designed cards into the pockets.  I used the Skylark kit for these pictures of my daughter's birthday, it was so fun to just slip the photos in the pockets, pick out some really cute Skylark cards, add a little journaling on some of them and slip them in the pockets too and my layout was done!  I can't wait to do more Picture My Life layouts, so very easy!

True To Life Card

This card was made using the Skylark paper, C1575 True to Life stamp set, Lagoon and Chocolate ink, Lagoon Houndstooth Washi Tape, Lagoon Baker's Twine and mounting tape.  I used the Art Philosopy Cricut cartridge to cut out the shapes (sizes are included on the stamp set carrier sheet).

Banner Purse Giftie

I made this little purse giftie using the CTMH Skylark papers, Lagoon baker's twine and the Artiste Cricut cartridge.  I cut the box at 2.25" and tucked a few little treats inside.

My Love of Black & White Layout

This is my second Smash Book style of layout in a My Crush book.  I just love the stark look of black and white together and this layout is a sampling of some of the black and white items I have in my house.  I had quite a few pictures so I decided to add in some Flip Flaps on the layout, can I just say how much I love Flip Flaps, because I really do!  Yes, I still planned it out much to my daughter's chagrin, but I am sure that I will get more random as I do more pages!

Fox Card Using Ivy Lane Paper

I made this card using this month's Stamp of the Month S1402 Wild About Love and the new Ivy Lane papers (which I think is my favorite this catalog).  I used the zip strip on the paper as if it were a piece of Washi Tape and a little bit of bling on the fox's flower.

Red Knitted Scarf with Big Black Buttons

I saw a scarf with buttons on one end and button holes on the other so that it could be a regular scarf or an infinity scarf and I thought it was so cool I just had to figure out how to do one myself.  This scarf was made doing a simple K2, P2 pattern and then near the end did some YO spots for the button holes.  Then all I had to do was add the buttons on the other end.  So fun and I love how it turned out!

Superstars of Gymnastics Digital Layouts

Not too long after the 2008 Summer Olympics, the gymnasts went on tour.  Megan's gymnastics team all went together as a group.  It was so fun and amazing watching all of these gymnasts perform!  I finally got around to scrapbooking the pictures and it was so fun doing these layouts.  I had just clicked away with the camera and a lot of the pictures were bad, but there were some that were really cool and scrapbooking them was so fun!  I used the You Rock digital paper kit and it was perfect.  Also, I split several big photo wells to make some smaller ones as well as adding some more photo wells.  I've decided that doing the digital layouts is my favorite way of doing layouts that have a ton of photos!  Click on the Studio J link to the left if you want to try it out yourself.

Use Your Stash - Retro Sketch 100

When I was looking at the 100th Retro Sketch (Congrats retrosketches.blogspot.com on your 100th sketch!) and saw the buttons on the sketch my first thought was to do flowers instead.  I dug through my stash and found these bright pink flowers and just knew they were the ones.  I used paper from the discontinued CTMH Dream Pop pack and I Am stamp set.  A really simple sketch and I think that is what I love about it!
